Prop 8

Prop 8 really pisses me off. So many people I hung out with in HS who pretended to be open minded and accepting of differences are posting of facebook to vote yes. It makes me angry and dislike them. You can't pretend to be supportive of minority rights and be friends or atleast pretend to be friends with gay kids and then vote that way. I mean, I knew those people were pseudo hippies and acted the way they did because it was trendy but it's really disappointing to find out it was fake to such a degree.

Today Emily Gina Kayla and I were having a crazy sweet dance party in my room and I just shut my laptop when we left. When I came in and opened my lappy up I forgot about that and jumped six feet when my speakers screamed at me to "Ghost Ride the Whip". It made me laugh. Maybe I'll post soon with real stuff.

Blarg!! My shakespeare class is reading Taming of the Shrew first. I hate that play so much!! I've already read it twice so I'm contemplating just not reading it. In other news, I'm switching to French 201 hopefully. The class is overly full but I think I'll get in over other people trying to add it because I emailed the Prof. Cross your fingers! It seems cool and I like the teacher a lot. He's funny.

School and LJ Fail

It's a little after 8:30 and I'm thinking about going to bed.

Today I went to class, did some knitting and went to a farmers market. I fail at being a wild and crazy college kid.

I think I'm okay with that.

There was a bit of an issue with my french class. I'm a bit too advanced for it so I emailed the intermediate level professeur and he offered me a good time so I think I'll upgrade. I'll be in French 201 which meets one day less than 101 I believe. Yay.

In other news, WTF LJ?!!>?! Why the fuck are there ads on my LJ when I'm not logged on?!?!!? I don't want a Plus account or whatever the fuck it is because I don't want god damn ads. I don't want to see ads on my LJ ever. Ever. I don't want to see them when I check my friends page or my recent entries without logging in. That's bullshit. Don't try to make money off my journal you bunch of cunts.

Has it finally reached the point where Andi goes off and finds somewhere new to blog? It might have. It's just sad because I have almost six years of rambling on here. Most of it's archived and on my hard drive but it's still sad to leave it all behind because of motherfucking ads.

I hate ads.

I wrote this story in fourth grade. I found it when I was digging around in my box for my immunization records. I have it bound into a little book. I made the cover all swirly and marblized and it's got a plastic binding. The pages have illustrations I drew with colored pencils and ink. My teacher submited it to a state sponsered contest for Young Writers where the winner gets there story published. I got an honorable mention but didn't win.

Here it is, sans illustrations.

Little Pink Big
A Fractured Fairytale

Once upon a time there was a little pink pig named Hen. Hen lived on a farm with a beagle named Kat, a blue bird named Phish, and a black tuplip named One-Lip.

This is the main part that makes no sense with out the illustration. It's the pig thinking about a milkshake with an empty stomach.

One day Hen found a cow. She asked, "Who will help me milk the cow?"
"Not I," said Phish.
"No way!" said One-Lip
"I will!" said Kat.
Kat and Hen milked the cow all day. The next day she asked,

"Who will help me make ice cream?"
"Not I!" said Phish.
"I guess?" said One-Lip.
So Kat, One-Lip, and Hen made vanilla ice cream.

The next day she asked Phish, "Will you help?"
"Oh, alright!"
"Good! Now go get some Oreo's!"
So he flew off. When he got back they couldn't find a way to smash the Oreo's. Then all of a sudden,

"FE!!!FI!!FO!!FUM!! I SMELL SOMETHING YUM!! FE!!!FI!!FO!!FUM!!!" boomed a giant.
"Hey! Wrong story!" yelled Hen.
"OOPS!!SORRY!!"
The giant high-tailed it. Having incredibly large feet, (he was a giant) he steped on almost the whole scene, smashing not only the Oreo's, but almost all the characters in the story too!

"Hey big foot, watch where you're going!" Phish yelled.
Hen put the ice cream, milk, and crushed Oreo's in the blender and made shakes. Everyone drank a shaked and lived happily ever after, almost!

"FE!!FI!!FO!!FEET!!! GIVE ME MY SHARE TO EAT!!"" boomed the giant.
"Never they screamed. The giant chased them all over and spilled the milkshakes.
"Awwwwwwwww." And of course they blamed it on each other.

Pretty silly stuff. I can't believe how good I thought it was when I wrote it.

From best to worst, the movies I've seen this summer.

1. Dark Knight

2. Wanted

3. Hellboy 2 (It lost to Wanted because it lacked in the sexy factor. =P)

4. Wall-E (Low scored because of the way it was adverised means there will inevitabley be obnoxious children in the theater who don't understand the movie)

5. Get Smart

6. Prince Caspian (Lowest because it was filled with annoying kids and the actual film was kind of scuzzy. Damn you three dollar theater!!)

T Shirt Surgery

One of my favorite groups on LJ has new mods and they're driving me craaaaazy! They want everyone to be nicey nice and there is absolutely no drama tolerated. That was half the fun! People in that comm were teh crz! Then the mod posted to say that people could no longer say that the shirt they sewed was "a gigantic xl" or "a tiny xs" because it is sizist. WTF? Are people really that sensitive? If so, they should be slapped in the face and taught to accept how big they really are. Meh. And there still were the fucking "Uhh... What should I do?" "How do I do this?" "I need ideas..." Posts!!! Now the mods have to approve all posts so they show up in a big wad. It's not like people are posting conroversial things here! I'm just annoyed with the whole thing but I don't have an alternative place to talk and see sewing stuff.

Chunky Crocheted Clutch Pattern

This is the first pattern I've written that I've put online so let me know if you have any questions or see any errors.

Chunky Clutch Pattern

Notes:
The clutch is crocheted in one piece, folded in half and sewn up the sides. The outside has five sets of three ribs on it with horizontal ridges on the top band.
Treat chain as st in hdc and dc. Crochet into top of chain.

Bits:
6 mm hook
110yds of super bulky yarn
4 buttons (pick buttons after making button holes to be sure that they fit)

Abbreviations:
ch: chain
st: stitch/es
dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
fpdc: front post double crochet
bpdc: back post double crochet

Foundation: Ch 26
Row 1: Skip 2 hdc 24 st (25 st total)
Row 2: Ch 2 hdc 24 into back loop (25 st)
Row 3: Ch 2 hdc 24 into front loop
Row 4: Ch 3 dc 24 into back loop
Row 5: Ch3 *bpdc in next 3 st fpdc in next 28 rep until 4 st remain bpdc in next 3, dc in last st
Row 6: Ch3 *fpdc in next 3 st bpdc in next 2* rep until 4 st remain fpdc in next 3, dc in last st
Rep rows 5-6 eight more times
Row 23: Ch 2 hdc into front loop
Row 24: Ch 2 hdc into back loopsof next 3 st *chain one and skip next st hdc in 4 st8 rep until end
Row 25: Ch 2 hdc into front loops

Finishing:
Fasten off and cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to sew up the side (About 35 inches).
Fold in half with wrong side (side with two st wide ridges) out. Line up edges and sew up sides. Sew on buttons.

Feel free to use this pattern but don't claim it as your own and don't sell your FO's made with this pattern.

This is my favorite vegetarian sandwich.

Ingredients:
A Sourdough Baguette
Garlic Herb Goat Cheese
A Carrot
A Zuccini Squash
A Cucumber
A handful of Alfalfa Sprouts

Exact quanities depend on the size of your sandwich.

Cut the baguette into whatever size you want your sandwich to be. Cut that in half horizontally. Spread on a think layer of cheese on each side. Peel and julienne the cucumber, zuccini, and carrots. Add a layer of each to the sandwhich. Then add a thin layer of sprouts to the sandwich. Close it and eat! I usually have mine with a glass of home brewed unsweetened black peach iced tea.

I used prepackaged matchstick cut carrots and my cucumber was cut into disks because both of those were already in the fridge that way. Julienning (??) them helps them stay in place. I hate when the contents of my sandwich falls out the side.

Crochet Classes and Lisa's Yarn.

I thought I was short on senior project hours but I'm not now that I've made my crochet kids a problem solving packet to help them crochet without me. Yay! I'm going to have like, 26 1/2 hours after tomorrow. Woot.

Anyways, my aunt Lisa stopped here on her way to some costuming thing and she brought me a big box of yarn that was too loud for her or leftovers. Woot. There is enough of some stuff to make atleast a cropped sweater or maybe even a full one. I also love almost all of the colors. I am way happy. It has to be atleast a hundred dollar hand me down.

Edit: Woot. I have enough yarn to make this. http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTthermal.html Now lets just hope I have the patience. Maybe I'll have to continue my search and just find something lacy for impatient people. I dunno. I do like that sweater. My other concern is that my yarn will be too scratchy. I dunno!

Great. I have a take home portion of my Midterm to work on so I don't have to do it the day of Tricias Birthday but I went to check out a pattern on Knitty and I realized the spring issue is up. too bad I have no will power and will be forced to read the entire thing before I can start on my midterm. Oh dear.

So I am determined to get my room clean and in order to do that I have to cut my wardrobe in half. I've started to work on that and I am shocked by the number of tank tops I own. I've gotten about twenty including undershirts out of two loads of laundry. Holy shit. I know I live in Cali and that's our state uniform but damn. I know I have even more of that too because I haven't done black or red laundry yet.

Yay! I got an account. I am TheAndiPants. Someone was already using AndiPants which made me sad. Who else would use that nick name? I Sewed up a storm over this weekend. It was nice because I'm sort of avoiding working on my second sweater. It was going really fast but now it's gotten to the neckline decreases and it takes too much attention. =(

I took the garbage out and it was really foggy. The outdoor light picked up ever detail. As I passed through it I could still see it sharply and feel it on my face. It swirled around and would pool in one area and then another. It was strang because fog here usually only gets as high as my shins and seems to vanish when you get close.

This break has been pretty successful even though I haven't really done much. Ryan has been the only person I've hung out with other than my family. Anyways, this week for the first time I knit an attractive I-cord, entrelac, and lace. Pretty rad, right? I have to say this though. Basket weave looking stitches in crochet are a hell of a lot easier to do and a lot easier to see. I frogged my entrelac because the verigated yarn I was using made it impossible to see the details and was a waste of my time. Maybe I'll try it again in a yarn with longer bands of color or in a solid.

FIRST SWEATER!!!! YAY!

I finished my sweater. It's way too small for me to wear but I don't even care. I MADE A FUCKING SWEATER!! How cool is that shit?!??! I'm totally pleased with myself even though I screwed it up and I started with the worlds easiest pattern. Still, how many high school seniors can say that they've made a sweater?

Anyways, I don't feel like taking it apart and making it bigger. I certainly have enough yarn. The problem was that I didn't make a test swatch before I started and my gauge was off from the pattern. I was knitting too tight. I should have used bigger needles.

Maybe I'll try to sell it? It doesn't look half bad and the yarn I used was recycled from another garment so the sweater only cost me the $6 for long circular needles which means I could actually sell it for what the quality of the garment is worth. I mean, that would be less than minimum wage since it took me like four or five months to finish but whatever. Thats more money than I'd have leaving it to rot (figuratively. It's made out of high quality acrylic and therefore can't rot) in my closet forever?

The best part of this (other than the fact that I made a fucking sweater) is that this means I can start my second sweater using this gorgeous purple Wool/Alpaca blend that my mom bought me for my birthday.

This time however I will knit multiple test swatches to be sure that the gauge is right. Hopefully the reccomended needle sizes will be spot on because I got some lovely bamboo circular needles in the reccomended sizes. I may cry if they're off because they're my frist pairs of wooden needles.

Merry Christmas everyone!! I'm up right now trying to finish crocheting last minute stocking stuffers that I decided at 6 that I wanted to make for my family. My hands might fall off. I spent the day working on knitting my sweater and the night crocheting. Ow. I hurt.

Anyways, Happy holidays everyone!!

We have a christmas tradition where we open one present on Christmas eve. I already opened mine from my Grandma. She got me Fitted Knits and I've already picked out two patterns that I am going to make fo sho. It seems that I'll just have to force myself to buy more yarn. Luckily one pattern is a quick cropped sweater that should only take me a week if I work consistently on it. The other is more of a long term project.

What was the best gifty you got?
